Before / During /After Session!

What do I do before the session?

  • When booking a run, typically we can schedule a few days out. We welcome same day appointments, but they can be difficult to accommodate, so the sooner you know when you’d like a run, the better. Most of our clients are same day/same time every week with flexibility built in.

  • Appointments can be scheduled either on the hour or half hour. Then just in terms of driving to you, please we just ask you understand that traffic and accidents and unforeseeable delays will sometimes happen so we ask you to allow a small window after your scheduled time to accommodate for such things.

  • Before your first session, you’ll receive an electronic liability form to sign, please make sure to read thoroughly. You’ll also receive a confirmation text the day before and an eta text when we’re on our way so you can get in a quick bathroom break if possible, get leashed up, and ready to go! If you have a favorite harness you like to use, go ahead and put them in it for their session. Otherwise, we provide harnesses for safety and comfort during their run.

  • Please make sure that any feedings are handled at least 2 hours before their session to prevent a full stomach of food that may lead to accidents during the session; that would be uncomfortable for anyone. No worries on the clean up, we’ll take care of it no problem.

  • Once we arrive, please bring your dog(s) out to the mobile dogg gym or let us know if you’ll need help at the door, we are happy to accommodate!

What happens during the session?

  • We closely supervise their movements and encourage them to “work” (walk, trot, or run, whatever their speed) throughout the whole session, stopping for breaks and water as needed. Our top priorities are safety and positivity! Our goal is to give your dog the best workout for that day, then send them back in tired, happy and ready to relax.

  • Each session runs about 30 minutes long, leaving a few minutes after the session for some love, affection, enrichment and rewards! My favorite part. When they are done and their tongues are hanging out and they are breathing hard, feeling accomplished, it’s the best.

  • The sessions take place on custom made for-dogs-only slat mills. These are similar to treadmills but there is NO MOTOR, so your dog does all the work, and NOTHING is forced. We are there to ensure a safe session and a fun session with positive reinforcement via cheering, clapping, squeaky toys, and overall love and affection. We are more than happy to provide treats as motivation or use whatever treats you may have for us to use but some of our clients are chasing a weight loss goal so treats are sometimes yes sometimes no.

  • Feel free to join during the first session or two to get a feel for what we do and if you find value in it. Not required of course but just a good idea sometimes for y’all to see the session in action. Or feel free to let us work with your dog while you are not around and we can send them in after the session. Your time is valuable, spend it how you want to, we’ll take care of them. like they are our own.

What about after the session?

  • Your dog may be sprawled out on the cool floor and pant for some time after their session. They just had a good workout! Wait until their heart rate slows before feeding. Some dogs get a burst of energy after their session, that’s normal, too. They just had a good workout and their endorphins and adrenaline are pumping.

  • Once their heart rate slows down and they relax, the energy will burn off. For unconditioned or older dogs, we recommend giving their hind legs a nice rubdown to release lactic acid and prevent any potential soreness the next few days. Who wouldn’t like a little doggie massage after a workout?

  • Next sessions can be scheduled the same way you booked originally, text or phone call or online here on the Schedule Today! tab. We typically follow-up within a week of their first session but feel free to reach out anytime with feedback!
